The Miseducation

"Why are you walking like that?"
she is squat walking pushing last years deteriorated twigs with her bright white sneakers.
"Are you a duck?" I laugh
"I am a duck" she says and repeats it over and over again.

We are in this sanctuary not far from the city maybe about ten miles from downtown. Maybe in the summer when the leaves on the trees are in full bloom you can't see the occasional distant townhouse but right now it is just bare bones bark gathered in a nudest camp.

"Wow" I whispered," look aren't they beautiful, inspiring almost"
She continues on walking. My personal duck and I.

There are parts of the park that are just surrounded with birds on either sides of you. You walk between tall wild weeds as they sweep down to greet you. They walk on either side of you, wondering and staring. Completely amazing. A story book.

I work with a lot of different imaginative people. I get to see different worlds

I mentor a girl. She has a baby, lives down the road from me in run down apartments. I'm helping her but she has taught me already a lot about how to give and to be grateful. When you think you have nothing you've really got to buy a dictionary and redefine your definitions.
