My brother and his wife are having their first baby and I'm going to be an Auntie. Oh wait, I'm already an Aunt to 7 beautiful nieces and nephews that I hardly know. I've never really had a chance to get to know my brothers from my dads side and they all live really far away from me. The funny thing now is that they are all older and I'm friends with them on facebook. "Hello, I'm that Aunt you never see". One of my nieces is on baby number 2 which makes me feel really old. I love them though and I've always looked out for their best interest even though I've never been in their life. I would do anything for them and it makes me guilty that I've let it get to this point I suppose. I guess that's why this new baby is even more exciting. Its a whole new chance to make things right. To actually be a great Auntie. I've been collecting books ever since I've found out. I think children books are so wonderful and silly. Its slim cardboard and bonded pieces of paper that will forever shape a persons personality. What kind of things do you want them to imagine? What kind of information do you want them to absorb? How do you want them to see the world? I've bought a combination of classic books and some random books about the ocean, insects, nature, ABC and the 123s. Books about pirates, animals that talk, and science. Legendary stories of giants and mythical things. I hope he likes them..my new nephew when he is born. My new start. Hopefully by the time he gets big enough he doesn't own a kindle.
Dave and I have officially picked out a place to get married. Its out in the middle of a desert, a southwestern chapel with open entrances and no closed doors located on an ancient walking path. March 15 2012 is our official date. One of the sweetest things Dave has said to me was the other night when we were out listening to some music " March 15 will be forever our day..our new day isnt that nice to think about" it was a really nice thing to say.
Tonight I went to Belle La Vie in Mpls for a friends birthday. I just had dessert and was amazed when it came out. It was the most beautiful dessert I have ever seen. It had different textures, flowers and colors. I've always seen stuff like that on TV but never thought I would get to experience something so beautiful (due to pocket book restrictions) it was so amazing. Something to scratch off the bucket list.
