Monster

This past weekend we went skiing at Fort Snelling out to pike island. Its a park huddled next to the airport and when you go to the beach you swim in shallow waters filled with green monsters and watch the airplanes fly above you. The best thing about Fort Snelling is its mystery, as there are so many species of living things nestled and protected in a small pocket from the city. Deer are always guaranteed to be seen, and it seems like every time we leave the wild turkeys are out at the exit to wish us well. Ive seen an eagle and hawks but they have so much more there that have never caught my eye. On time we were there as the sun was setting and fish were jumping out of the water to eat the hovering flies. This past weekend off in the distance I saw swans! Hovered in a corner of open water on the lake they were bathing and walking around on the ice almost disappearing into their surroundings. It was so odd, beautiful but strange as I've only seen swans in nice warm weather at the zoo but never out in the wild. Besides the animals it's a peaceful place to get lost in. There are huge trees, some that dip back into the water that mimic the arch bridges off in the distance. Some have huge growths on the side of them like bulging bags of puss that you make you want stick a pin and pop them. The tip of the island feels like forever to get to but you get to see where the Minnesota and the Mississippi connect, two friends who finally after a long journey get to reconnect and become one again.

On Valentines day we went to the Wabasha Caves to go swing dancing. When I was younger my friend Brittney and I loved to go swing dancing. We would go every Thursday at the caves and we would go to other swing dancing events during the week if there were some. I had to do the guy part and she was obviously the girl. We were pretty good, people would come up to us and give us compliments, we would do flips and spins and people would create a circle. We took a few classes but we learned most of what we knew from VHS movies. We'd rewind and play them over. Brittney was a little on the heavy side but we still managed to do a few stunts and flips that impressed the crowd. We used to try the hard stuff and I would always say ," come on just jump on my shoulders I won't drop ya!" And whenever she did I would always drop her. She made more of the decisions to those things as she was obviously more logical. That went on for over a year or so but with everything at that age life changes almost to the blink of an eye. Brittney got a boyfriend , I got more into drugs and raves , there we were on two separate paths that spread further and further until out of high school then miles , dirt , mountains and prairie grew between us. Still it was fun to be back in the dark caves. Where gangsters hung out, where people were murdered, where ghosts roam the walls, where two teenage girls had a love affair, one so violent their feets pounded the ground, arms threw up in the air, skirts twirled and skin rang wet of big band music.

I bet your wondering about Max? Did you wish for her miracle? Because she is alive! She is still without her back legs but her front ones seem to be getting a lot stronger. We bought her a wheel chair and it shipped today! Hopefully this will be the solution to her problems.

While working on valentines day at my cleaning job my clients trash bag ripped open and all of the trash fell on the floor. It was the grossest trash you could ever think of, it had moldy food, dirty diapers the whole kit and kaboodle. After that a whole tin of their detergent feel on the floor after their spin cycle. If I wasn't so filled with love from all the wonderful people in my life I would have been so bummed out. A good reminder love can really get you through those gross situations.
